Salvatore Ferragamo: Spring 2013 RTW

You know, I gotta say that it’s slim pickings for what’s being shown at Milan Fashion Week. There are some gems among all the unimpressive collections though…and today’s just so happens to be the Spring 2013 collection from Salvatore Ferragamo. To be honest, the collection has a decidedly Fall feel with a plethora of trench coats to choose from and fabrics like leather, but there were some nods to  Spring with a fresh take on the LBD and tops accented with sheer meshes.

Here’s some looks that really caught my eye…

Now, while this collection wasn’t the most inventive, creative, or inspiring one, there were elements here that I wanted to highlight. I think the collection has an early 90s punk vibe…especially in the black looks that were shown on the runway. The mesh & leather combinations just feel like something that would be excellent to wear to an industrial club. Also, I think the collection feels slightly “post-apocalyptic” in the sense that a lot of the knits are loosely woven & the styling is a bit disheveled. For some reason, it works though. My hands down favorite part about this collection though are those coats. I love a good trench & Ferragamo certainly gave us several to choose from…even if the collection seems to be two seasons off, haha.
