Burberry Prorsum: Menswear Spring 2013

One of my favorite seasons in fashion is when the Menswear collections are unveiled. I’ve finally come to terms with the fact that my personal style is heavily bent towards structured jackets, well tailored pants, and that…finesse that Menswear evokes. I’ve fought this realization for awhile because I do love a more bohemian aesthetic as well, but I think it’s pretty much set in stone that Menswear has my heart.

A couple weeks ago, the Spring 2013 Menswear collections were revealed on the runway & I’m pleased to report that there were some really exceptional looks presented. One of my favorite collections was Burberry Prorsum’s Spring 2013 Collection. I feel like most people (even designers included) can get stuck in doing the same fabrics in the same style of suit when it comes to Menswear. Not the case with this collection. Metallic silks, seemingly Indian inspired prints, and stylized bomber jackets were a fresh sight to see.

Here’s a look at some of my favorites.

Now, I wasn’t a fan of most of the styling of this collection (metallic sandals & socks…um, no). But I do love most of the pieces on their own. Done right, I think some of these metallic silks could be done as evening looks for a man. Perhaps paired with some slim black slacks for a night out on the town?

In addition, I’m so here for that ice blue metallic trench & that orange & navy printed shirt. I also love, love, love the printed jackets. I think it was smart to show a look in a duster coat style & also a look in a bomber jacket style. I think jackets are one of the key pieces often overlooked in which Menswear can really show individuality. With the right idea, you really can do so much!

Bravo to Christopher Bailey for a really cohesive & unique Spring 2013 collection!
